'Girls Just Wanna' now a magazine

    Sunday, December 10, 2006

The magazine is an extension of the popular "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" event series for women.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - The Magazine, a monthly publication about loving life, creating connections and having fun, will launch this Wednesday

The magazine is an extension of the popular "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" event series for women.

The magazine will be published by MassPublishing. Publisher Fred Fedesco said the monthly distribution is 15,000, but expects circulation to increase each month.

The magazine will be delivered to about 13,000 women, and 2,000 copies will be available on the second Wednesday of each month at select locations throughout Western Massachusetts.

According to Maureen M. Sullivan, marketing director for The Republican, and the magazine's editorial and creative director, the publication is a natural outgrowth of the event series.

"Women have such a wide variety of interests that the list of ideas for events we could produce is almost endless. The magazine will allow us to present content about those ideas and share it with women every month. The content will be intensely local."

Sullivan added that the magazine will allow "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" to expand its vision to connect with area women and bring them together through ideas, inspiration and resources that will enhance and enrich their lives. The magazine will also have its own Web site, www.girlsjustwanna.net

Fun and laughter, relationships, sex, food, travel, style, books, entertainment, music, health, shopping and adventure, will be among the topics covered in the magazine. Sullivan said reader feedback and ideas will be an important component. "We want to hear from local women. We want to know about their ideas and their stories."

Information about upcoming "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" events will be featured in the magazine, which will frequently offer additional content about speakers and topics

Greg Saulmon is executive editor of MassPublishing, which also publishes "Life After 50," "Local Buzz," and "El Pueblo Latino." MassPublishing is an affiliate of The Republican Co.

Women on the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" mailing list will automatically receive a complimentary copy of the premiere issue.
