College Club names award recipients

The College Club of Springfield, which gives an annual scholarship of $1,000 and allows recipients in good academic standing to receive that amount each year of college, recently held its annual scholarship luncheon at the Longmeadow Country Club.

Katherine Marino, a graduate of West Springfield High School who is attending Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., is this year's winner.

The club also presents one-time only awards of $500 in honor of a teacher in the Springfield Public Schools.

Recipients of the Marjorie Goodhines book award are Sarah Barstow, a graduate of Southwick-Tolland High School in Southwick, who is attending Smith College in Northampton; Lindsay M. Forrette, a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School who is attending the University of New England in Maine; and Mariely Alindato, a graduate of Chicopee High School who is attending Elms College in Chicopee.

The club dates back to 1899 when it was founded by graduates of Smith College.
